Tena Koutou Katoa !
I hope you have been enjoying the Rugby World Cup - what a relief to have such a convincing win against our neighbours in the semi-final - fingers crossed for our team in the final !
For some time now, community members have commented on the fact that Waikato Police do not have any form of Ethnic community advisory board.
Under the direction of the Waikato Police District Commander, Superintendant Win Van der Velde, the Waikato Police now have a Terms of Reference for a Multicultural Advisory Forum.
Communities now have an opportunity to have some say into that document and the resulting forum that will be brought together around it.
This purpose of this email is to:
1. invite all communities to have input into the 'terms of reference', and feedback your opinions and thoughts in relationt it.
2. invite nominations of appropriately skilled people from the community that would make suitable members on this Forum - people who are able to positively contribute to the purposes & goals of the Forum.
Please take some time to read the attached draft copy of the 'Terms of Reference for the Waikato Police Multicultural Advisory Forum'.
Feel free to feed back any comments, suggestions, opinions & thoughts directly to me.
Likewise, I will receive, collate & forward any nominations to the District Commander - Forum members will be selected by the Waikato Police District Commander.
There will be a mix of both male & female representation on the Forum. I am happy to recieve forms by email, or at the address hereunder.
I am also happy to meet with your organisation or group to explain the purposes & goals of the Forum, and answer any questions.
The close off date for nominations is November 14th 2011.
The launch of the Forum will happen shortly thereafter.
Nga mihi mahana
Pere.
